The Eye by mtd-mobius The Eye by mtd-mobius
This is my symbol. It identifies me and many of the things I do. It's my signature and my calling card; It has a place on all of the personal structures I built in Activeworlds. It shows up in SOME of my artwork. And as you can see, it's my avatar.

This is a symbol I originally planned for a shadow-government-like organization I wanted to build on furc, but fell through. Originally, it was symbolic of four aspects, the four individuals who composed the top of the said organization... but now there is only me that remains. It was once called The Eye of the Four. Now it's just my eye.

If you would think it seems to be loosely based off the all-seeing-eye of the illuminati, you'd be right. That's it.

My friends and I wanted to engineer a shadow government for Furcadia, based on categorizing and standardizing of powers and abilities and making people accept legitimacy of one another's characters. Furcadia isn't like MMORPGS in that you aren't forced to accept other people's actions. You can blow them off and go on your merry way as if they never attempted to shoot you with a fireball, etc. And let's face it, not all people on the 'net, especially not all people on furcadia, are the brightest most intelligent people around. However if someone were to make an organization that offered everybody a chance at power within a system of balance and stability and you had enough people following it, you could very well regulate roleplay for the entire community and seperate the 'good' players from the 'bad' players. All the 'good' players enjoy benefits and higher social status. All of the 'bad' players, though, get shunned, ignored, and harassed. It's all in the interest of organizing Furcadia and making everybody fit together in a single ideology and a single vision about the subjective world around them.

Obviously, though, if an organization would have the power to lift someone up OR bury them... you could imagine the kind of power and control you could have over everyone. Perhaps if some 'favors' were performed, somebody might find their social ranking a tiny bit higher? The idea was, build an irresistable, opportunistic governing system, suck in a bunch of pawns, and then capitalize on them within an inch of their lives. Me and three other friends wanted to build this organization, sit at the top, and Rule the Community... like gods. And run it in the background, quietly controlling and manipulating everyone and everything from the shadows.

The idea fell through, but the concept DID very much inspire our imaginations toward the concept of the Illuminati. The four of us were to each handle different aspects of running things. I was the architect: the idea guy. There was also the Voice: A judge to determine the outcome of disputes and maintain order (but secretly be a spokesperson and a spin doctor to make everything we'd do sound like a great idea); the Enforcer: to watch everyone and everything closely and be there to mediate disagreements with plain-clothes 'officers' everywhere (Secret Police); the Nexus: Our web-guy, responsible for organizing and documenting everything.
I still wish it happened, but for now this is all that exists of it: Just this mysterious, intricate, symbol of preeminence and decadence.

That's crazy! Really well done.

What did you use to make that?

I used Bryce 5.0. Bryce may have some disrespect among modelers because it's low-class, or what people call "consumer-level" but A), that's just a masked way to say "OMG MINE R BETER THAN URS" and B), it only makes it that much more challenging to make it perform exactly the way you want it to. BECAUSE it's not capable of performing higher functions of geometry and special effects on its own, one must find ways around it to best accurately emulate the purpose one desires. Of course, that's just a masked way to say "NOES UR NOT" in response to the above ^^;
